Hi ! welcome to the WVCG 'recruiting' page -
info that you need [& also see the contacts page -] Our Magazine is called 'THE BARTREAD"
We are looking for new members of all ages, and have not done hardly anything to encourage the members
to join for a long time, and all that is about to change, and here is the beginnings of it.............
New members often worry that they do not have a vehicle 'yet' and are not sure if they will be accepted.
Acceptance is basically - acceptable behaviour combined with an interest in preserving Military Vehicles, and their
extra components - like:
radios trailers manuals uniforms binoculars lighting kits camo-nets ammo-boxes electric generators
field-telephones remake parts signal lamps heliograph sun-compass radar
telesonic-receiver map-boards lanterns vehicle-in-parade [Australia day, ANZAC day and more]
battery-boxes tanks searchlights etc .
some members are rarely found on a club run while others are rarely missing a club run and don't have time to do any more except fix flat tyres ... the lifestyle is what got me in - If I want to go to a display event, and setup the gear, operate it, learn from visitors to the event, compare notes, eat the BBQ food, take home-video , it's a multi -functional outdoor experience, and Historic registration for those who are eligable for it. I joined the other Military vehicle club at 16 ,and was surprised to find myself on the committee in a short space of time. Character development is a key- part but also seeing a few old engines firing up for the first time in decades can be fun too. Collecting this gear took a hold on me, and my family are not yet really sure why I do this...I think that the scope of the hobby is far bigger than most outsiders realise. Politics - yes - meetings become political - but it's not the main thing in our club, but we try to keep that sort of stuff to a minimum. Some people say why join a club at all....well ... the membership fee is usually cheaper than trying to find out what's going on around the state without being a member .Swapping parts, and even hearing about parts coming up for sale will save you time, and generally as a person who has been in the clubs here in S.A, sometimes a member, sometimes not, I would say for sure that many of the great trips and experiences of being associated with the club would not have happened if I was an outsider. [that's just me] - Andrew
- but I am sure everyone has a different view of the benefits or misfortunes :o) of being a club member.
Soon we will put more on this webpage ,to help with joining up, and we -as a club can't stress enough that in future years there may be many restored vehicles that just go overseas almost forever...so hopefully you are a new keen potential member - and hope to keep X-Military vehicles on the map here. being a visitor is easy, - either look for an event on the club calendar, and let a committee member know that you wish to attend a trip that you like or turn up as a visitor at a meeting . either way - we as a club are looking forward to some new faces coming into the club - and we will do our best to make you feel welcome. Andrew [webpage editor] so - CONTACT US and have some fun !
