Joint WVCG and RSA re-enactment

SATURDAY 21st SEPTEMBER 2013

Members should all be aware by now that the Pichi Richi Troop Train event has been cancelled. This was a Disappointment for those of us who were intending to attend. But we will still be holding a joint re-enactment event with our
friends of the RSA.

The event will be held in the Mt Crawford forest on Saturday 21/09/2013 for a day of combat. The theme will be France
1944, so we will all fit in, however the RSA are very sensitive regarding authenticity. So if we participate we must look
the part, For Axis forces they suggest Luftwaffe Fallschurmjager coveralls. Captured Jeeps will be OK with captured
markings.

It is suggested we be in the forest any time from 0800 Hr’s. The battle commences at 0900 Hr’s. We meet at the Cromer
Campsite. The forest is booked until 1400 Hr’s on Sunday so you can camp overnight on Saturday.

Cancelled – The Benghazi Express

The executive of the WVCG wish to advise that we have been ad- vised by the organisers of the Pichi Richi Railway that our planned joint Troop Train re-enactment with the SA Re-enactment Group has been cancelled. This means the WVCG will not be travelling to Quorn this year and we will not be part of the annual October Long Weekend Troop Train re-enactment.
This has been a blow to those in the WVCG and the RSA who have worked so hard this year to make it happen. The new people in charge at the Pichi Richi Railway were not in favour of the earlier decisions made to stage the event. It is disappointing that they left it to the last minute to advise us.
The WVCG and the RSA will still look at staging a joint event and once details are known a special bulletin will be sent to all WVCG members and also placed on our new website.
